For families, we recommend Utnäset Nature Reserve and the areas around Olsjön. Here, you’ll find easier trails, nice picnic spots, and a safe environment for children to explore nature. Utnäset offers pine forests, gentle paths, and views of Lake Vättern, while Olsjön provides a calm forest lake environment where kids enjoy exploring the shoreline. These reserves are the perfect size for short trips between swimming and meals at the campsite.

Askersund is a place of great variety, and I truly appreciate that everything the town, the water, nature, and culture have to offer is always close at hand.
I work as a tourism development officer at Visit Askersund and also serve as the town centre manager for local commerce.
For guests staying at Harge Resort, there are many excursion opportunities nearby – ranging from hiking and cycling to swimming, cultural sites, and a wide selection of events throughout the year.
One of my personal favourites when it comes to hiking is the Mariedamm Trail. The nature there is both diverse and easily accessible, with an interesting connection to the culture and history of southern Bergslagen. Combined with the charm of a small town and a constantly vibrant event scene, this creates a varied experience, no matter the season.
